Your tasks and responsibilities
Application of a large range of different simulation methods and to perform environmental safety assessments of plant protection products within the EU and on member state level
Responsibility for quantitative exposure and risk assessments by applying environmental fate models for the simulation and prediction of the fate of plant protection products in the environment
Evaluation of field and laboratory environmental fate study results to derive quantitative degradation kinetics using current regulatory methodologies
Evaluation of higher-tier E-Fate studies, e.g. field runoff, leaching, dissipation, spray drift, rain-fastness and similar studies with regard to chemical fate and transport for purposes of refining exposure assessments
Development of innovative higher-tier solutions for risk assessments in the field of environmental fate as well as in close collaboration with aquatic and terrestrial ecotoxicology
Interdisciplinary cooperation with internal and external teams
Representation of the company in meetings with clients and authorities and within the scientific community
Being a recognized contact partner (m / f) for the plant protection industry and / or academic institutions
PhD or MSc in science (environmental-, soil- or system sciences, hydrogeology, agricultural engineering, physics, chemistry or mathematics, informatics, biology or related disciplines) or similar qualification
A minimum of 2 (PhD) to 4 (MSc) years of relevant agrochemical fate and exposure modelling experience is required
Background in GIS and solid knowledge in modern statistics will be of advantage but are not a requirement
In-depth knowledge and several years of practical experience with environmental fate models for pesticide registration on EU and National Level (latest versions of FOCUS surface water and groundwater models, TOXSWA, MACRO, PRZM, PELMO, PEARL, EXPOSIT, TOXSWA NL, DROPLET, etc.)
Detailed knowledge of FOCUS degradation kinetics assessments and tools (e.g. mkin, KinGUI, CAKE, ModelMaker) and strong experience in the performance of kinetic evaluations
The practical application of the above mentioned models and methods including expert statements and reporting on a daily and routine basis should be within your actual area of work.
Good understanding of environmental fate processes of plant protection products, and their implementation in exposure modelling
Strong knowledge of modern agricultural practices as related to pesticide placement and movement
Beneficial expertise (optional, but not prerequisite)
Knowledge and experience in connecting GIS and numeric simulation models for spatially distributed exposure modelling of pesticides in soil and water at the landscape level would be a highly appreciated asset but is not prerequisite.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment and constructive interactions and information sharing with other intercompany departments
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal communications
You are well acquainted with standard IT applications and you have excellent German and English language skills.
High ability to solve problems and to structure and simplify complex tasks
