Novel Packaging Group Leader A great history and a stimulating present and long-term future Nestlé Research Center, Lausanne, Switzerland Undefined period of time contract, act rate 100% Over the last 5 years, the 600-

staff NRC has published around 1000 scientific publications in peer review journals and files about 80 patents every year.

The NRC also has around 100 research collaborations with universities or research institutes around the world. The NRC is organized with three large research institutes for Nutritional Science, Materials Science and Food Safety & Analytical Science.

Research Units focusing on Clinical Development, and PetCare, complement these major Institutes. The NRC plays an important role in providing the science behind healthier products (learn more about the NRC at www.

research.nestle.com). Lausanne is home to the two strongholds of Nestlé’s fundamental research : the Nestlé Research Center (NRC) and the Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences (NIHS) that investigate the complex interactions between nutrition, health and wellness.

Demonstrating result focus and innovation , you will be delivering innovative packaging solutions, which fit the strategic objectives and needs of the company.

This includes leading and developing a team of packaging and material experts, identifying cross-category solutions to support Nestle business objectives for packaging including environmental impact, end-

of-life and consumer functionality. Key responsibilities

  • Actively scout state-of-the-art packaging-related technologies and material developments
  • Develop external collaborations including academic, industrial and disruptive innovations with start-up companies that may meet Nestle needs for packaging.
  • Deploy expert knowledge within the Novel Packaging group to facilitate packaging projects, working closely with Nestlé Product Technology Centers and market-level packaging groups
  • Identify and define well-structured research projects with clear milestones and endpoints
  • Collaborate with other departments, businesses and markets globally to proactively identify unmet needs for packaging and develop research programs to address them
  • Identify succession planning candidates for key competencies
  • Education and experience

  • PhD in polymer science, materials science, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an industrial packaging environment
  • Established track record of innovation in food and / or beverage packaging
  • Excellent understanding of packaging materials and technology
  • Experience in project management
  • Recognized expertise across and outside the candidate’s immediate network
