As the Global Business Health, Safety and Environment Specialist you will contribute to improving Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) performance in the respective organization to ensure an exemplary health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on the environment.
Support the business by applying in-depth HSE knowledge to offer solutions and advice. Facilitate delivery of support from the Center of Expertise (CoE) and ensure effective risk management through HSE excellence along ABB’s value chain.
Support manufacturing plants and service workshops by acting as the BU champion for global processes and tools related to Health, e.
g. process safety, chemical handling and storage, fire / explosion protection, ergonomics manual handling, chemical management, work related stress
Create BU Motors and Generators specific safety policies and standards in the area of responsibility in alignment with ABB Group policies and standards.
Collaborate with global program team for Health and with the CoE, as required
Identify Business unit specific training needs and delivering training in area of responsibility.
Create long term plan for area of responsibility and support manufacturing plants and service workshops in implementing the plan.
Represent the Division / BU and contribute to strategy and continuous improvement of global processes and tools for Health
Masters of Science degree in the area of chemical engineering or equivalent education. OHS Management "Degree" with indicative professional qualification "Fellow" or equivalent practice and experience of HSE / OHS management.
Demonstrated project management experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience working at a senior expert level in a global organization
Confidence in navigation around legislations for area of responsibility
ISO 45001 and 14001 Management system
Competent in conducting ISO 45001 (OHSAS18001) and 14001 audits
Incident investigation and root cause analysis
Risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Method Statements
Chemical and hazardous substances and understanding the categories of impact
CLP regulation in EU
Safe storing of chemicals
Disposal and transportation of hazardous chemicals
Phasing out hazardous substances from operations
Conducting process safety risk assessments using HAZOP study or similar
Implementing requirements of explosive atmosphere (ATEX)
PPE standards and requirements in chemical handling
Fluent in English, other languages are an added advantage
