Reporting to the Internal Communications Director, the candidate will support the department's key objective of fostering a culture that supports and drives behaviors aligned with business strategy by effectively communicating the organization’s vision, values and culture.

The candidate will have advanced-level competency in internal communications and be able to develop comprehensive communication plans with minimal support.

This role is responsible for managing an editorial team of 5 people. The key focus will be to define the cross-channel editorial strategy and yearly strategic content plan.

In addition, the candidate will lead the weekly editorial meeting and serve as editor-in-chief across all channels, including oversight of JTI's corporate magazine.

An excellent writer with a journalistic approach, the candidate must also have strong people management experience.

The candidate will also work closely with the Director to further enhance the leadership communication program which aims to connect employees globally with JTI's overall ambition and purpose, and help them understand their role and contribution to its success.

Previous experience working with senior leaders is essential.

Excellent attention to detail, a passion for people and their stories, as well as well as strong project management skills are absolutely necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Manage team members (5), providing ongoing feedback and coaching to ensure their continued development; assign projects to ensure the most efficient and effective use of resources;
  • give team members the opportunity to enhance their skills and gain meaningful work experiences through project work.

  • Definition of the global editorial and content strategy across all channels; creation of the yearly editorial calendar with themes and topics organized throughout the year in alignment with JTI's business priorities (with the support and contribution of the Internal Communications team).
  • Oversee the timely and quality production of INSIDE Magazine, including its continued enhancement; define quarterly themes, editorial plans and content with the magazine editor-in-chief.

  • Write, plan and support leaders and SPOCs (single points of contact) for the leadership communication program, including development of toolkits, messaging, Q&As, scripts, communication plans, etc.
  • Write, edit and approve cross-channel content applying JTI's style and tone of voice and ensuring timely publication; support functions and markets in the publication of global content;
  • identify relevant stories for publication via the most appropriate channel(s).

  • Development of comprehensive communication plans in support of strategic business objectives; partner with functions and markets to deliver relevant, timely and effective communication campaigns in alignment with JTI priorities and business objectives;
  • must have strong communication skills, be organized, flexible, reliable and trustworthy - able to build rapport with JTI employees of all levels.

  • Serve as guardian of the JTI brand, ensuring all materials produced or developed in Internal Communications follow the corporate identity guidelines;
  • coach team and market colleagues in the appropriate application of the guidelines.

  • Maintains oversight and accountability for the publications budget, defining the yearly budget, reviewing and approving assignment schedules and managing relationships with external service providers.
  • Performs various other activities deemed appropriate to support the Internal Communications team's objectives.
  • Profile

  • Education : University or equivalent background, preferably with a degree in communications, PR or journalism
  • Work Experience :
  • An accomplished writer - ideally 10 years in journalism, editing and / or corporate communications
  • Experience in an international environment or multinational company
  • Confirmed team leader
  • Experience working with senior leaders
  • Native English is required; advanced level of Microsoft Office tools
