Develop and implement the global regulatory strategy for designated Active Ingredient intermediates, raw materials and co-
formulants to meet global business objectives and to gain and maintain national registrations in line with business needs
Provide regulatory expertise, advice, leadership and advocacy skills to business partners (Regulatory Managers, Supply Chain Managers, Technology & Sourcing Managers, Formulation Development, Procurement) for the allocated Syngenta portfolio to ensure that issues, challenges and opportunities are progressed and addressed in a timely manner
With guidance develop global registration strategies for designated chemical substances that acknowledge the threats and business opportunities identified in all regions and that communicate the global decision in a way which allows countries to operate within an agreed and aligned strategic / action framework
Lead multiple global teams within Product Registration and Product Safety to ensure appropriate work plans are developed and implemented and results are appropriately evaluated and integrated as required to support regulatory submissions and approvals of chemical substances worldwide
Provide appropriate foresight to internal stakeholders on emerging chemical legislation issues, challenges and opportunities.
Lead the advocacy for designated countries with emerging regulations to ensure cohesive interaction between chemical and plant protection legislation, in particular for co-formulants
Provide regulatory expertise, advice and foresight to business partners (T&S / Global Supply Chain Managers / Global Purchasing) for designated raw materials, intermediates and co-
formulants etc to ensure that issues, challenges and opportunities are progressed and addressed in a timely manner
With guidance act as Project Manager for designated registration projects, design and implement project plans encompassing data call-
ins, new data requirements or issue management which ensure continued registrations and are consistent with business aspirations and investment goals
For designated 3rd party chemical substances track external supplier and regulatory authority databases and identify issues and use this knowledge to identify opportunities and promote optimal positioning of Syngenta products in the portfolio
Provide high quality regulatory documents including submission documents, strategy documents and issues documents etc for designated substances in order to provide a safe self-
service framework to internal stakeholders
Experience, education and critical knowledge
Minimum 2-3 years of working experience in regulatory chemistry or relevant area (such as toxicology, ecotoxicology)
Knowledge of worldwide chemical registration requirements and regulatory science issues
Degree in Science and preferably post-graduate qualification (MSc or PhD)
Proven ability to maintain effective communication and working relationships within teams and across functional and national interfaces
Critical technical knowledge, professional and personal capabilities
Preferably good understanding of agribusiness
Proven track record in results orientation and project management
Proven ability to deal with complex regulatory issues and to develop effective strategies for managing them
Proven ability to work within and contribute to cross-functional team
Analytical and strategic thinking
Team player; flexible to work with different cultures and backgrounds
Well-developed communication and presentation skills.
Fluent in English and preferably having skills in other languages
