The job :

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to be responsible for the European strategic direction and the development of tactical plans to achieve our goals and objectives in the OEM consumables business.

This includes understanding the growth opportunities in the market, customer requirements, and aligning Thermo Fisher capabilities to add long term value in meeting customer needs.

This will be accomplished by working closely with our customers, sales teams, product management, and marketing to define product requirements and competitive positioning.

This role will help set the strategy for OEM consumables in Europe.

UK, Germany or Switzerland

What will you do?

  • Market Assessment - Segmenting the OEM diagnostic market in relevant segments suitable for adopting different product offerings, determine the attractiveness of each segment and develop strategies that provide long term value to the customer.
  • Assess needs of the diagnostic segment Determine the requirements and match it to a suitable value proposition, taking into account the competitive landscape.
  • Collaborate with product management on fulfilling unmet needs.
  • Tracking and monitoring Track and monitor the adoption of the OEM consumables in each region, co-ordinate with sales on targets and plans, manage and adjust accordingly.
  • Identify, document and communicate to all stakeholders.

  • Market trends Analyze market trends in the diagnostic industry, and develop a strategy to adjust to these trends.
  • Develop collateral materials and sales training Work closely with Product Management to develop collateral and training materials to support the sales in approaching new customers, train the sales team how to position the available solutions, and communicate the value proposition.
  • Provide support and assistance to reps., customers, OEM’s and engineering firms that enhance our long-term business results and relationships.
  • Help establish relationships with new top diagnostic companies and suppliers.
  • Who we are looking for :

    Minimum Requirements / Qualifications :

  • Minimum of a BS or BA with an MBA highly preferred.
  • 8 years’ experience in commercial roles, technical sales, business development or product management.
  • Experience working with customers and varied sales channels.
  • Requires up to 30% travel including international.
  • Professional Characteristics :

  • Proven ability to influence and lead convincingly, to drive cross-functional teams to success in challenging and ambiguous situations.
  • Experienced working in a matrixed organization.

  • Experience in interacting with demanding customer groups, and the large variety of stakeholders involved in the decision processes.
  • Proven experience in business development, developing business cases, and successful management of objectives.
  • Persuasive communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Highly motivated self-starter dedicated to achieving goals and performance metrics.
  • Experience in developing new markets.
  • Strong technical capabilities consistent with market segment.
  • Global mind set, excellent communication and presentation skills, including strong active listening skills.
  • Results and proactive solution driven, the ability to think critically to overcome potential business hurdles to complete tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to question the status quo and drive change successfully
