Givaudan, the world leader in the Flavors Industry, is looking to find our next Flavorist in our Science + Technology (R&D) organization.

Here's the twist we are looking for someone that is Kemptthal or Naarden based, but for at least the first year, will spend 4-

6 months training in the United States in our Cincinnati, Ohio location. As a Flavorist, your main focus will be to excel in flavour creation innovation, as a passionate learner, you will continue your career path working within a truly global team.

  • Challenge yourself and others : Formulate new flavor creations or modify existing flavors to meet project requirements, internal testing needs, or new technology development at an expert level for selected flavor types.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with a broad number of internal partners; able to gain their trust and respect.

    Serve as technical expert to resolve flavor production issues and customer complaints and complete ownership of created flavors.

    Coach, train, mentor and manage flavor assistants and collaborate and learn from other flavorists.

  • Drive Efficiencies : Formulate new flavor creations or modify existing flavors to meet project requirements, internal testing needs, or new technology development at an expert level for selected flavor types.
  • Serve as technical expert and advisor to internal and external partners and customers for ingredient and flavor performance at an expert level for selected flavor types

  • Manage thru Operational Excellence : Coordinate the evaluation of materials developed internally or from external sources and assess potential for flavor creation .
  • Coordinate the participation of other technical functions to learn about all areas of the company (analytical chemistry, sensory, consumer understanding, regulatory, flavor delivery, manufacturing, etc.

    Maintain a safe, clean and organized lab environment in accordance with EH&S policies. Execute daily tasks and fully manage assigned projects and provide flavors which meet all defined project needs, leading customer visits for flavor creation and product presentations at the customer when required.

    Your professional profile includes :

  • MS or PhD in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, with 1-4 years experience as a Flavorist.
  • Preferably already working in a Savory category or high interest in Savory research and applications.
  • Knowledge of Maillard Chemistry, creation of process flavors, experimental design and analytical methodologies (G.C. Mass Sec, HPLC)
  • Knowledge of raw materials and flavor ingredients with an ability to formulate many flavor types and formulas, and flavor modifications.
