Job Purpose

  • To be the key contact person between plants (principally of own BU) and BG finance staff in relation to matters of financial and related policies, principals, procedures, knowledge and help
  • To assist the BU FD in the financial oversight and reporting of the BU
  • As a member of the BG FC team to participate fully in the continuous improvement in financial and related processes across the BG
  • Take a leadership role in the maintenance and continuous improvement of the internal control environment principally of the BU but also of the BG
  • To undertake such projects as are agreed to be of value to the BU / BG between the BU FD and the BG FPA Manager

    The Film & Foil BU has a turnover of €550m, comprising 6 plants in 6 countries, the role reports to the BG Finance Process and Analysis Manager, but with a strong dotted line to the BU Financial Director for whom this person will be undertaking a significant amount of their work.

    The position is permanent and provides a valuable learning opportunity to anyone wanting to further their career either at a BU or BG level.

    Principal Accountabilities

  • To lead the management reporting activities in the BU, supporting plants in monthly reporting and budgeting and developing the use and accuracy of such tools as HFM, Qlikview (Artemis, Pandora) & TRACE (Capex Projects approval & tracking)
  • Lead within the BU the Balance Sheet review process. Oversee the Control Self-Assessment process for the BU and participate fully in the continuous improvement of the process across the BG
  • Ensure that the plants in the BU are up to speed with requirements for the H1 and FY statutory close processes, including Mgt / stat reconciliations and other related activities as appropriate
  • To assist plant FCs in developing and delivering projects or routine activities on an ad hoc basis
  • If agreed with BU FD, to help in reviewing of CEAVs and working across the BG in development of increasingly standardised CEAV processes where appropriate
  • To work alongside the commercial and sales teams and across the BG and BU to ensure the development and understanding of plant, product and customer profitability on a consistent basis
  • To develop Plant Finance talent by providing training and onboarding support
  • To assist the BG and BU functional teams in suggesting, participating in and delivering safety enhancement activities
  • Qualifications / Requirements

    Formal Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree, with a certification
  • Previous working experience in manufacturing company
  • A reasonable knowledge of IFRS / US GAAP to help plants on an ad hoc basis
  • A fair working knowledge of the requisites of a good internal control environment in a packaging plant, ideally based on having overseen one
  • Good IT skills, in particular a good working knowledge of HFM, and MS Office; experience of various ERP systems useful when working with plants and experience of working with various databases will be useful
  • Specific Skills and Abilities

  • Good interpersonal skills will be needed to work alongside Group, BG, BU and plant staff prioritising, helping, on-boarding & training and chasing as required
  • Time management will be valuable as the role is under constant pressure to deliver in a number of areas, need to be able to prioritise, communicate and deliver on key issues
  • Ability to communicate at multiple levels in the organisation will be important, fluent English is expected and other languages useful
