The NRC also has around 100 research collaborations with universities or research institutes around the world. The NRC is organized with three large research institutes for Nutritional Science, Materials Science and Food Safety & Analytical Science.

Research Units focusing on Clinical Development, and PetCare, complement these major Institutes. Lausanne is home to the two strongholds of Nestlé’s fundamental research : the Nestlé Research Center (NRC) and the Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences (NIHS) that investigate the complex interactions between nutrition, health and wellness.

In order to complete our Chemistry Department, we are currently looking for a Research Scientist on Carbohydrates . In this role, you will collaborate extensively within our Expert Group in Carbohydrates and will have the chance to play a role in the global R&D expert networks in this area. Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to / lead multidisciplinary projects related to carbohydrate chemistry, nutritional and physicochemical functionality with emphasis on starch and cereals
  • Work in collaboration with a team of biochemists, enzymologists, food technologists and nutrition scientists.
  • Contribute to rapid prototyping efforts in new and existing projects
  • Generate IP on carbohydrate science, with emphasis on starch and cereals, that is relevant to Nestlé processes and products
  • Project management and interactions with external companies / universities.
  • Develop and maintain scientific expertise in the field through impactful publications and presentations
  • Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Food Science, Engineering or Biochemistry, or any related field, with a focus on carbohydrates and / or cereal chemistry
  • Combined with 2-4 years experience in industry or academia
  • Strong hands-on experience in starch chemistry / physics, cereal chemistry, and global knowledge on cereal processing would be a plus
  • Experience in setting up research projects, building collaborations with external scientific partners and / or project management will be considered an asset
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English
