Assist. Prof. in Mathematics with spec. Probability and Combinatorics in A.I
KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has grown to become one of Europe’s leading technical and engineering universities, as well as a key centre of intellectual talent and innovation.
We are Sweden’s largest technical research and learning institution and home to students, researchers and faculty from around the world.
Our research and education covers a wide area including natural sciences and all branches of engineering, as well as in architecture, industrial management, urban planning, history and philosophyMore information can be found at https : / / www.math.kth.se.
Mathematics with specialization towards probability and combinatorics in artificial intelligence.
The subject area includes basic probability and combinatorics, including combinatorial optimization, intended to deepen the understanding or be of use for the studies of artificial intelligence.
Examples of such mathematics are causal inference, combinatorial studies of directed graph models, probabilistic studies of latent variable models and other multi-
scale models as well as related optimization problems.
Duties include research, teaching, supervision and some administrative duties. Teaching duties will correspond to approximate 25% of a full time volume.
The employment is part of a WASP initiative on mathematics of artificial intelligence and the assistant professor is expected to lead a research group with at least one postdoc and one Ph.
D. student. The candidate is expected to contribute to the activities of the WASP program as well as the activities of the department of Mathematics including the Brummer & Partners MathDataLab.
Involvement in the new specialization towards mathematical data science within the master program in applied and computational mathematics is also expected.
The assistant professor will be given opportunity to develop their independence as researcher and gain accreditation that may allow them to acquire other academic positions with higher eligibility requirements (see Chapter 4, Section 12 a of the Higher Education Ordinance).
Following KTH regulations, the assistant professor can apply and shall be assessed for promotion to the level of associate professor.
An individual who has obtained a PhD or equivalent research expertise is qualified for appointment as an assistant professor.
Candidates who met those qualifications within five years prior to expiration of the application period should be prioritized.

Special grounds of assessment for promotion to associate professor
When assessing applications for promotion to associate professor, the applicant's ability to independently initiate and carry out research of high academic quality, published in international publications, the applicant'sability to obtain financing for research operations and the applicant’s pedagogic skills will be assessed.
Of highest importance is the applicant's ability to independently establish collaborations and research specializations.
It is also of highest importance that the applicant has displayed teaching and supervising expertise. It is also of highest importance that the applicant is able to teach in Swedish by the time of the appointment to associate professor.
