Your job

For the Microscopy and Magnetism Group at the SIM beamline we are looking for a PhD Student studying ultrafast magnetization dynamics in correlated oxides with X-Rays.

Your tasks

  • Characterize the magnetic orderings of correlated oxides using resonant soft X-Ray scattering at the RESOXS station of the SIM beamline
  • Investigating their magentization dynamics with short X-Ray pulses at synchrotron slicing and X-Ray free electron sources (e.g. BESSY, LCLS)
  • Collaborate on related ultrafast science projects of the team
  • Your profile

    You hold a master degree in physics, material science or a related field and enjoy practical work. Knowledge of magnetism or electronic structure of the solid state and experience with ultrafast lasers is beneficial.

    You will be registered as a PhD Student at the ETH Zurich. Your main working place will be at the Paul Scherrer Institute.
