Role Purpose

The Reporting & Compliance Controller is responsible for risk management with financial counterparties under the applicable derivative regulations framework and the Group Treasury Directive.

In addition, he / she ensures adherence to the internal control framework (specific for Group Treasury) and is responsible for various reporting matters.

Major Accountabilities

  • Timely confirmation, reconciliation and dispute resolution of open OTC derivative positions with financial counterparties.
  • Collateral management of open positions in close collaboration with cash management team

  • Support in various Risk Management activities, such as adherence to counterparty credit limit framework, risk identification / indication ( Early Warning Process ).
  • Ensure relevant agreements (ISDA, EMIR / FinfraG dispute resolution, FMIA agreements, LEI, etc.) with financial counterparties are in place, maintained in a database and regularly monitored for validity

  • Maintain the specific Treasury Compliance Control Matrix, ensure controls are implemented and owned by the process owners, review self-
  • assessment, testing results and attestation. Follow up on control failures and continuously seek for improvements in close collaboration with Group FRA Corporate Financial Controls (CFC)

  • Support in various (financial) reporting matters, such as preparation of FCRS reporting schedules, SIX reporting, Novartis Pension Fund performance reports and analysis of Group Treasury cost center budget.
  • Contribute to various projects and improvements initiatives
  • Deputy for Treasury Risk Controller
  • KPI's

  • Confirmation and collateral management of all open positions (on a daily basis, all financial counterparties, zero threshold) within the defined daily timelines
  • Compliance with European (EMIR) / Swiss (FinfraG) requirements
  • Compliance with internal control requirements (NFCM / SOX404)
  • Smooth collaboration in projects and liaise with IT, NGSCs / FSCs and external counterparties
  • Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Economics, or equivalent
  • English advanced, German is a plus
  • Knowledge of banking sector, esp. cash management is a strong plus, preferably in a similar environment.
  • 2 3 year experience in Treasury, Accounting and Tax
  • Good SAP and MS Office (Excel) skills, knowledge of other systems is a plus
