For our client Philip Morris SA in Neuchâtel, we are seeking a :

Laboratory Equipment Management Engineer

Duration : 8 months

The incumbent leads and organizes the following activities to support Testing Laboratories & Governance department : management of the asset inventory, management of maintenance contracts (in collaboration with Procurement) ,CAPEX projects and related budget (including operational budget of the laboratories), follow-up on instrument qualification and related maintenance / qualification planning to ensure full compliance of the instruments with quality systems in place (ISO 17025 and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)).

Plan and coordinate maintenance tasks with external suppliers and internal stake holders to achieve maximum availability and reliability of laboratory equipment while keeping the maintenance costs at optimum level in compliance with applicable standards and procedures contributing to Continuous Improvement culture.

Deliver all activates on time with highest possible quality. Drives the activities based on Key Performance Indicators managed through a KPI dashboard.

  • Lead, organize and prioritize activities related to instrument qualification in collaboration with the analytical laboratories and ensure that any change on qualified systems and / or qualification of new instruments is performed according to a defined schedule and relevant quality documentation.
  • Allocate necessary and appropriate resources according to their skills and expertise. Monitor progress of activities with involved parties to ensure that agreed milestones are met.

  • Maintain the asset inventory up to date with relevant information and in compliance with requirements of internal quality systems and / or internal procedures.
  • Provide reporting of asset inventory upon request.

  • Support TL&G department on the monitoring of the operational budget and coordinate with Finances for any specific reporting that might be required for an efficient tracking of the budget.
  • Consolidate laboratory needs for maintenance and leads in collaboration with Procurement the supplier assessment, contract negotiation and supplier performance management.
  • Initiates discussions with suppliers to understand new developments on the market.

  • Analyze, monitor and control specific KPIs and Dashboard and data in scope related to process stability, identification of gaps, improvement potential and improvement trends, ensure that the relevant continuous improvement standards are implemented, and review / improve current processes and practices.
  • Provide regular improvement gap analysis, feasibility studies with pros, cons, understand the root causes and apply the right tools to address the challenges, in order to improve business results.

  • Perform her / his duties in accordance to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) regulations, ISO 17025 and the respective PMI procedures.
  • Ensure that processes, documents and activities within asset management scope, comply with ISO 17025 and GLP.

  • College / University - University degree in Engineering, Science or
  • Business

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in laboratory accredited environment
  • ISO 17025 and GLP)

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in the area of analytical chemistry
  • Functional Skills :

  • Experience in quality systems and database management (LIMS)
  • Demonstrated and relevant experience in project management as well
