Job Description

The Legal team for our Europe / Australia EUAU business unit, headquartered in Switzerland, is looking for a Temporary Legal Counsel to provide broad-based legal support for five months, starting June 1st , 2020.

Reporting to the Regional Legal Director, the Legal Counsel will be a member of the General Mills’ Law Department and the growing EUAU business.

The Legal Counsel will partner with, and provide focused, holistic and strategic legal guidance to the EUAU business on a variety of legal issues, with input and coordination from members of the EUAU legal team, as well as other members of the Law Department, including its centers of excellence.

Providing hands-on support to the Emerging European Markets EEM and EU Sourcing business units will be an integral part of this fast-paced and dynamic role.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Working closely with our EEM and EU Sourcing business teams to summarize and communicate legal concepts clearly and effectively and help them synthesize legal frameworks in developing their business strategies.
  • Reviewing, drafting and managing a wide range of commercial agreements, including Distribution, Sourcing, External Supply Chain, and Marketing agreements.
  • Advising on relevant legal contexts, issues and risks, approval processes, and company policies and procedures
  • Contributing to regional and global Law Department initiatives, including projects aimed at streamlining processes, coordinating training and developing and sharing best practices.
  • Specific Areas of Practice include :

  • General business, corporate and commercial law
  • Competition law
  • Some Marketing and Advertising law
  • Qualifications

  • University Law Degree (Common Law Country)
  • 6-8 years post qualified experience, including at least 2-3 year’s in-house experience preferably in FMCG or related field
  • Strong grounding in contract and competency in competition law
  • A trusted business partner, capable of building strong working relationships with all business functions
  • Acts with a high level of autonomy and strong sense of personal responsibility, but also a team player with the flexibility and agility to work in cross functional teams, assist colleagues in the EUAU region and liaise with Law Department Centers of Excellence (including Trademarks, Patents, Corporate Secretarial and HR)
  • Able to cope with, and prioritize, a demanding and rapidly changing workload often to tight deadlines
  • Able to own, and develop commonsense business solutions to, legal problems
  • Unquestionable integrity
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent command of English
