The Department of Epidemiology and Public Health (EPH) develops and applies epidemiological, statistical and mathematical methods to advance innovation, validation, and application in the field of public health.

The Health Systems Research Group it is currently looking for a

System dynamics modeler (Postdoctoral) 80%-100%

to support the application of systems thinking to improve cardiovascular disease management in low and middle income countries.

We are seeking a motivated researcher that will support the research team at Swiss TPH. They will undertake dynamic simulation modelling work as part of a collaborative team with diverse expertise.

They will be required to engage in participatory approaches to model systems with local, state and national stakeholders.

The researcher will assist with the preparation of project reports and the production of manuscripts by providing but not limited to modelling insights, assumptions, output tables

Your position

  • Lead the analytic work in developing decision support tools for policy and planning (through system dynamics modelling), including the refinement and advancement of existing tools
  • Contribute to the dissemination of the work of Decision Analytics
  • Support the development of new research proposals
  • Represent our common interests in appropriate international fora and conferences
  • Your profile

  • Tertiary qualifications or demonstrated relevant, equivalent professional experience in statistics, mathematics, and / or data science
  • Experience in system dynamics modelling and participatory approaches to its application for health policy and planning an advantage
  • Proven high level analytical skills and a methodical approach to data management, and analysis
  • Knowledge and / or experience in Epidemiology and / or Biostatistics, relevant to population health
  • Good knowledge of data privacy and security issues and the ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality when dealing with sensitive data or reports with restricted access
  • High-level organizational and time management skills with demonstrated expertise in managing input from multiple stakeholders
  • Strong service orientation with proven ability to build successful working relationships with a variety of people, both internal and external, and to deliver on commitments made
  • High level in spoken and written English. Portuguese or Spanish desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
