The Global Procurement partner (GPP) for Innovative Therapeutic Sciences provides leadership and management of a global team.
GPP will have oversight globally across all therapeutic areas of Novartis and will support scientific innovation across all platforms including cell and gene therapies, new chemical and biological platforms and pathways, including genesis lab innovations to advance new innovation within the NIBR Research environment.
GPP’s provide strategic enterprise wide global category leadership to deliver measurable value for Novartis. The GPP is also a Primary Business Partner with one or more assigned strategic scientific line functions or disease units and will represent Procurement on stakeholder Leadership teams, strategic business reviews, and budget planning.
You will be responsible but not limited to :
Identify and develop new scientific innovations in the market that will have a significant impact towards accelerating or advancing NIBR drug discovery & development.
Accountable to ensure Procurement priorities are aligned with relevant line functions and in support of divisional priorities
Act as Procurement strategic business partner on NIBR stakeholder LT
Supervision of GPP’s supporting category or line function, including GPPs who are also managing a team themselves
Global, strategic and innovative supplier relationship management partnerships with innovative science companies ensuring continuous improvement, spend / cost transparency and cross-
divisional account management to meet business goals.
Accountable for consolidating supplier market, peer benchmarking, category and internal business data and information to develop the category strategy
Accountable with the BPA for the external budget planning linked to optimal demand management within his / her area of responsibility.
Accountable for operational excellence and process improvement in supplier relationship management and metrics.
Responsible for the development and communication of short, mid, and long term Category Plan in collaboration with the stakeholders that will be the roadmap for how the category will evolve over time to ensure strategies remain advanced within the industry
Accountable along with the business and Finance for the overall delivery of the category savings targets for all Divisions following the target setting process
Accountable for ensuring delivery against the Procurement Balanced Scorecard measures for the category
Develop proposals for strategic business decisions and new investment opportunities
Responsible for negotiation of Master Service Agreements in alignment with category strategy and innovation initiatives.
Ensure operational excellence is embraced in everything we do.
Responsible for effective collaboration with other procurement functions
Accountable for ensuring robust and efficient contractual arrangements are in place for the category and stakeholder requirements
Bachelor’s degree required at a minimum, Master’s degree preferred; in fields such as business administration, finance, law or a scientific or technical field.
Excellent English, other language(s) desirable
A Leader that understands and executes the Novartis Strategy, with profound commercial & technical skills as well as solid procurement knowledge.
Leadership experience >
Excellent interpersonal skills, highly collaborative, a good communicator, ability to listen and to motivate people.
Strong influencer in decision making process within and outside of procurement.
A commercial & technical background would be ideal.
Proactive assessment of new ways of working, involving innovative scientific & technical solutions by identifying and on-boarding the right supplier.
