Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the Editing Section, Languages Service, Division of Conference Management, United Nations Office at Geneva.
The Editor, reports to the Chief of the Editing Section. Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Chief of the Editing Section, the Editor will be responsible for the following duties :

Candidates for this position must have passed the combined United Nations Language Competitive Examination for Translators / Précis-
writers, Editors, Verbatim Reporters and Copy Preparers / Proofreaders / Production Editors in English or any United Nations language competitive examination in English held before 2017.
Work Experience A minimum of five (5) years of experience in editing, translation, précis-writing, self-revision, verbatim reporting, copy preparing, proofreading, production editing or in another relevant language field, and using relevant computer software, electronic tools and databases, is required, of which three (3) years preferably within a multilingual setting.
Experience in programming and extensive experience in the editing of human rights or international law documentation are desirable.
Languages Fluency in English, which must be the candidate's main language, and excellent knowledge of at least two other official languages, as tested by one of the above-
mentioned United Nations language competitive examinations, are required. Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include a written assessment, followed by a competency-
based interview. Special Notice Staff members are subject to the authority of the Secretary-General and to assignment by him or her.
In this context, all staff are expected to move periodically to new functions in their careers in accordance with established rules and procedures.
