Job Description Summary

It is our business strategy that we be our customers’ partner of choice for microbiological control issues, creating value by providing technical support and insights to our customers.

We are looking to recruit a Field Technical Sales Support expert primarily in the field of biocidal additives for paints and coatings.

This role would suit a German home-based worker, but can also be based out of our Basel office. Working in a business-to-

business technical sales support environment you will be required to coordinate the delivery of technical service and technical sales support activities opposite existing and potential customers within Europe for both existing offers and new sales opportunities.

You will be required to interact as needed with the Lonza field-based sales team, Lonza technical service groups, and Lonza marketing personnel.

Adopting a consultative approach, you will need to be a scientific knowledge resource in this highly regulated field, satisfying scientific and technical questions from customers in order to help generate and grow the business.

You will also keep up-to-date with market developments and competitors, to inform the company sales and marketing strategies.

There will be a requirement to represent Lonza in the context of external technical forums, technical conferences, trade shows, industry bodies, and standards organisations.

Customer liaison, both desk support and field technical visits across Europe will represent around 20-50%. Reporting of activities and follow up work requests is through (SFDC).

As the successful candidate, you will have the following attributes :

Education :

  • Degree in Chemistry, Biology or Life Sciences
  • Languages :

  • Must be fluent in German and English
  • Experience :

  • A working knowledge of micro-biology test methods and paint and resin formulations would be a strong advantage as would a working knowledge of the EU regulatory framework for biocides
  • Skills :

  • Business Acumen; demonstrating an understanding the impact of technical decisions and activities within a complex organisation
  • Customer Focus; a proven track record of understanding and managing both internal and external customers and managing stakeholder needs.
  • Driving Results; accepting ownership and responsibility for driving tasks to completion
  • Agility; proven ability to prioritise own workload and adapt to meet changing business needs
  • Collaboration; a good influencer and the ability to communicate at all levels in writing or verbally
