Senior OpenStack Cloud Architect (m / f / x)
Service and Support for Science IT (S3IT) is a central unit at the University of Zurich that provides and supports IT infrastructure and services for researchers.
We offer access to hardware that is tailored to the needs of research as well as providing consulting services to allow our customers to optimally make use of the tools and resources available to them.
As a senior cloud architect it will be your jobs to design and lead the engineering of our next generation of OpenStack deployment, and to guide other staff in the daily operations of the centralised scientific IT infrastructure at the University of Zurich.
This includes a large OpenStack cloud deployment, a CEPH storage system with multiple petabytes of storage, as well as GPU computing resources.
Your daily tasks will include the design and deployment of new systems, as well as the administration, monitoring, tuning and operation of hundreds of Linux servers that are part of our existing systems.
You will be working with researchers on a regular basis to assist them with their technical challenges.
You have a strong background in Linux systems administration as well as an understanding of advanced Ethernet networking and TCP / IP including VLANs and routing.
You have worked extensively with cloud technologies including OpenStack and CEPH. You are comfortable automating repetitive tasks using Bash, ansible, Python or other scripting languages and tools.
You have used version control systems such as git to organize and track changes to your work. You use tools to automate system configuration (cfengine, ansible, puppet, etc.
You can quickly identify potential problems and have the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot. You can communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.
