Reports to Manager of Field Application Engineering in California


The successful candidate for this position will work in our existing field applications engineering team in the USA, and provide technical solutions during both the design-in and post-sales phases of the customer relationship.

The candidate will help customers fully utilize the performance capabilities of u-blox GNSS, short range and cellular wireless products.

The ideal candidate is highly motivated and willing to learn about and experiment with new products and concepts.


  • Support Automotive Tier One and OEM customers during the design-in and post-sales phase with u-blox GNSS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cellular LTE modules and chips
  • Work closely with the sales team to close new business opportunities
  • Resolve technical issues in customer products
  • Give technical training sessions to existing and prospective customers
  • Perform GNSS drive testing and analysis of new u-blox products
  • Write application notes and publish articles in trade magazines
  • Provides technical market feedback to R&D and Product Management at HQ
  • Understands customer design architecture and competitive offerings
  • Prioritizes support issues in consent with the responsible Regional Sales Manager
  • Maintenance of laboratory infrastructure to support hands-on technical role
  • Profile

  • Authorized to work in the US for any employer
  • Bachelor / Master of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • At least 5 years of working experience in mixed signal (RF / Digital / Analog) hardware design support
  • Knowledge of wireless communication systems, including WiFi, Bluetooth and LTE
  • Ideally experience with GNSS, RF design, and embedded software development
  • General software knowledge is considered an additional asset
  • Excellent communications and management skills
  • Occasional travel to national and international destinations

    This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    Position Type

    This is a full-time position.

    Expected Hours of Work

    Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 : 30 a.m. to 5 : 30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
