Job Description Summary

We are looking for a technical Project Leader to strengthen our Process Scale-up and Product Development Support team within LSI R&T.

Based at our Visp Site the technical Project Leader will be the key interface between R&T, Marketing, Sales and Operations to deliver and execute on new chemical manufacturing projects.

The Project Leader will typically manage approximately 4 active projects on the site and across multiple technologies throughout the process development and implementation phase.

The technical Project Leader will be responsible in these phases for Quality, Costs, Timing, and Risk of the projects and will lead multidisciplinary teams.

Key accountabilities and duties

  • Lead, direct and motivate multi-disciplinary project teams and hold team members accountable to deliver results within an agreed project governance structure to ensure customer and business satisfaction throughout the process development and implementation phase
  • Act as point of contact for R&T, Marketing, Sales and Operations and ensures that the projects are delivered in line with the agreed objectives
  • Manage project scope, timelines and budget / profitability - Define, organize and be responsible for all project communication, agreeing milestones and conducting lessons learned exercise and decommissioning the project at the end of the process development activities to contribute to process improvements.
  • Advanced customer communication / interaction

  • In conjunction with Marketing & Sales, prepare amendments and / or scope changes and provide technical input into mid-
  • long term project strategies

  • Coach and mentor other team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications and skills required

  • PhD degree (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or similar)
  • 4-6 years’ work experience in the areas of the chemical industry e.g. process development, manufacturing, including technical competency
  • Strategic, operational and technical Project Management experience required (including conflict resolution, team building, decision making etc.)
  • Ideally Project Management certificate (PMI or similar)
  • Fluency in English and German is required
  • Proven business awareness and commercial acumen
  • Proven leadership skills to motivate and maintain high moral within the matrix team
  • Excellent skills in writing, sepaking and presenting
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels across the organization, with customers, internal team members and / or management if required
  • Loyal and faithful team player who is accountable for the team decisions
