The group is part of the Institute for Theoretical Physics in the Department of Physics, and it is led by Prof. Dr. Manfred Sigrist.

Project background The position will be hosted by the Condensed Matter Theory group led by Prof. Dr. Manfred Sigrist at the Institute for Theoretical Physics and will involve close collaboration with experts in quantum algorithms and their applications in the group of Dr.

Ivano Tavernelli at IBM Research - Zurich, Switzerland. Job description Major responsibilities Development and analysis of novel algorithms to explore how quantum computing can be utilized to improve our understanding of quantum materials with strong electron correlation in view of functional materials.

This includes new techniques based on variational algorithms in combination with quantum machine learning and neural networks or related treatments which allow an unbiased approach to this type of systems.

Involvement in the supervision of master students in seminars as well as semester and master thesis projects. Your profile Qualifications To qualify for the position you must have a PhD in computational / theoretical condensed matter physics, quantum physics / chemistry or equivalent.

Your PhD degree should preferentially not be older than three years. You have experience in quantum algorithms, quantum computing, quantum information science and good programming skills (e.

g., using Qiskit). You are fluent in English, oral and written and are interested in working collaboratively as well as independently.
