Senior Reproductive Health Officer
Organizational Setting and Work Relationships
The Senior Reproductive Health (RH) Officer is a member of the multidisciplinary public health team and will ensure that UNHCR's reproductive health and HIV programmes meet minimum UNHCR and global health standards in order to minimise preventable morbidity and mortality among populations of concern (POC) and towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The incumbent works in support of the regional and country Public Health staff, offering technical advice, capacity building, policy, strategy and operational guidance related to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) to UNHCR on the design and scope of UNHCR s responses in SRH, catalyses the engagement of other actors, supports resource mobilisation efforts including with the private sector and monitors the response.
The incumbent is actively involved in relevant global policy platforms, specifically the Inter-Agency Working Group for Reproductive Health in Crisis settings (IAWG) and as needed liaises with other external stakeholders such as government counterparts, UN Agencies and private sector.
The incumbent advocates for sexual and reproductive health (SRH), including HIV and clinical management of rape and intimate partner violence (IPV) within and outside of UNHCR.
As a co-sponsor to UNAIDS, UNHCR has an important role and the incumbent must ensure UNHCR policy and guidance actively contribute to the prevention and treatment of HIV in refugee settings and for other persons of concern (POC)
The incumbent should understand the potential sensitivities related to this topic and be comfortable and capable in engaging effectively with the varying perspectives related to SRH.
The incumbent plays a major role in UNHCR by supporting all issues related to SRH and HIV including Protection and,- (Programme issues, and technical support sectors..
The incumbent must ensure support to the Public Health Officers in the Field to strengthen and improve refugees and POCs access to and use of SRH services and is ultimately responsible for policy and guidance, capacity building advocacy and evaluation on SRH.
The Senior Reproductive Health Officer is normally supervised by a Senior Operations / Assistant Representative in the Field or by Head of Public Health Section (PHS) at Headquarters.
The incumbent in the Field has a functional line with the Public Health Section in Geneva regarding authoritative guidance and support in technical matters and is expected to maintain regular contact with the PHS.

Relevant Job Experience
at least 3 years working with refugees / IDPs or in emergency / post-emergency situation.
Proven technical and managerial competence in sexual and reproductive health aspects of global health programming with emphasis on refugees / IDPs, emergencies or post-emergencies.
Practical knowledge of planning, monitoring and implementation of health-related services in refugee or refugee-like situations.
Computer skills in word processing, spread sheets and PowerPoint.
Proven ability to deal with multiple tasks in a courteous and service-oriented manner in a demanding working environment that often has short deadlines.
Political savvy and sensitivity.
Ability to coordinate a range of diverse actors and activities to achieve a common objective in the area of SRH is essential.
Applied knowledge in UNHCR programme management, project formulation, its programme cycles and reporting standards.
