Senior Network Operations Engineer
Cooley is seeking a Senior Network Operations Engineer.Responsible for the Firm’s Data Centers and local office server rooms, this position is a technical expert who executes effectively on server infrastructure projects requiring specialized knowledge, especially within the Linux environment.
This position, with minimum supervision, will have a thorough understanding of firm technologies and systems as well as the ability to understand both the business and technical requirements for new products that will be engineered and implemented by the group.
The Senior Network Operations Engineer will work very closely with the Architecture and Engineering group as well as the Communication group to provision complex infrastructure designs and will provide support for these systems.
Additionally, this position will mentor junior level engineers as well as provide third level support for complex issues, problems or projects.
Candidates must have 5+ years' experience in a professional services firm in a technical environment, extensive Linux experience, experience working in large enterprise environments and expertise in VMWare and SAN technologies, as well as solid automation experience, and high familiarity with the installation, configuration and operation of network equipment such as servers and storage devices, switches, routers, wireless access points, VPN, gateways and firewalls, also of a variety of makes / models and operating.
Candidates must also have an understanding of power and cooling requirements and kW draw based on compute density and datacenter layout, as well as an in-depth knowledge of Linux-based systems and excellent networking, troubleshooting, tooling, and automation skills.
Proficiency in UNIX utilities and scripting (Python, shell, Java) or similar are required.Preferred candidates will have a college degree, preferably in engineering or computer field, VMWare expertise and UCS blade server experience.
