Sony AI' s research and development are driven through agile, world-class AI flagship projects that motivate the creation of AI technologies in both the virtual and physical spaces.
The initial three flagship projects are in computer gaming; sensing and imaging for robotics; and gastronomy. Other projects will be added over time.
We aim to leverage our core expertise in sensing, computer vision, machine learning, reinforcement learning, and robotics towards novel research and applications.
All Sony AI research projects will be pursued in close collaboration with the relevant Sony Group business units, including those in gaming, imaging, and sensing.
Basic research in computer visionand roboticstechnology, contributing to our flagship projects
Development and implementation of computer vision, sensor fusionandmachine learning algorithms
Implementation of proof of concept demonstratorswithnovel hardware
Close collaboration with colleagues in Switzerland, Germany, the US, and Japan
Travel to other Sony sites and international conferences
Background in engineering or computer science andexperience in computer visionresearch (PhD or equivalent experience) with a track record of relevant academic publications, patents, and / or open source software.
Experience with reinforcement learning,neuromorphic hardware,and / or event-based cameras is a plus.
Experience with optical, or camera technology is a plus.
Experience working with robotsis a plus.
A track record of implementing software in C++ and Python. Experience with embedded software development is a plus.
Excellent oral and written English. German and / or Japanese language skills are a plus but not a necessity
