The position is located in the French Translation Section, Languages Service, Division of Conference Management (DCM), United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG).
The incumbent works under the general supervision of the Chief of the French Translation Section.
Within delegated authority, the Reviser will be responsible for the following duties :
Makes full use of standard computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools and actively contributes to their utilization and implementation of any related IT tools and improvements.
Ability to demonstrate good writing skills, high standard of accuracy, consistency and faithfulness to the spirit, style and nuances of the original text with a good grasp of the subject matter.
Ability to demonstrate a high level of concentration and good judgment and discretion. Ability to work under continuous stress in dealing with a broad range of subjects.
Ability to exercise flexibility and adaptability; firm grasp of research techniques. Knowledge of a broad range of subjects dealt with by the United Nations, i.
remains calm in stressful situations. Takes responsibility for incorporating gender perspectives and ensuring the equal participation of women and men in all areas of work.

A first-level degree from a university or institution of equivalent status is required. Candidates for this position must have passed the relevant combined United Nations Language Competitive Examination for French Translators / Précis-writers, Editors, Verbatim Reporters and Copy Preparers / Proofreaders / Production Editors or a relevant United Nations language competitive examination held before 2017.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in translation, précis-writing, editing, self-revision, verbatim-reporting, copy preparing, proofreading or production editing is required.
Out of the aforementioned experience, three (3) years of experience at the United Nations or a similar international organization is desirable.
Experience in the use of standard computer-assisted-translation (CAT) tools is desirable.
Experience of self-revision is desirable.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in French, which must be the candidate's main language, is required.
Knowledge of English, as tested by the relevant United Nations language competitive examination, is required. Knowledge of one other United Nations official language, as tested by the relevant United Nations language competitive examination, is desirable.
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which will be followed by competency-based interview.
