PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Reporting to the Senior Product Developer Manager, the Product Developer Denim is responsible for launching and developing new products for all Guess Apparel lines (Guess Jeans, factory outlet, OTB), with a main focus on womenswear denim and non denim bottom.

The role supports the team in translating the designer ideas / requests into a physical actual product, following a set of development phases within a rigid timeframe.

They assist during all sessions of collection launches, collecting info from designers and key players involved to fill in tech packs for the manufacturers.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attends collection briefing to get SKU plan and product insights from merchandiser on future season
  • Takes part during the initial wash review session and collect all the info about fabrics, washes and fit
  • Works with designers and model makers to launch and develop new seasonal fit
  • Creates summary boards matching the design sketches with technical info about fabrics and washes
  • Helps designers, under the direction of the Senior Product Developer Manager, in launching and research the seasonal not nominated trims and embellishments
  • Prepares the first technical draft of the product and share it with the designated vendor in order to launch the first prototype
  • Follows up with vendors during proto development stage, supporting the manufacturer during the execution
  • Works with product management team to ensure an efficient process is implemented
  • Gathers all prototypes and reviews them during the fitting sessions
  • Supports the product management during the set up of the proto / wash review meetings and participates in these sessions with related stakeholders
  • Based on the feedbacks emerging at proto / wash reviews, creates the final BOM and releases the complete tech pack to vendors
  • Visits vendors during SMS production to grant that the outcome is 100% right, interacting and controlling laundries and manufacturing lines
  • Works closely with the Senior Product Developer Manager to prepare price grids which will be used during price meeting
  • Manages and releases all the product changes communications to the sales force
  • Assists and participates during fitting session for production handover with quality technicians and model makers
  • Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years of relevant work experience in the same role and field
  • Good knowledge of denim womenswear and menswear required
  • Must prove to have a clear understanding of the Guess Brand DNA
  • Familiarity in using conventional and unconventional denim washes, fabrics and materials
  • Must have good organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-up
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group at all level
  • Flexible in ever-changing, fast paced environment
  • Good computer experience including but not limited to Microsoft : Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Model Form, Adobe Illustrator, Enovia, Photoshop etc.
  • Fluent English. Any additional language is considered a plus
  • Ability to travel to all countries within company sourcing hubs when required
