At our site in we are looking for a Head of Occupational Medicine. This role sees itself as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team of EHS and is directly subordinate to the head of EHS.

The occupational health physician is fully responsible for the occupational health care of the employees of Lonza production site at Visp, advises the employer on all health issues due to his medical expertise and medical assessment.

He / she is the contact person and responsible for medical specialists at the authorities and the regional medical profession, as well as the medical director of the medical emergency organization at site Visp.

The Occupational health physician leads the medical documentation in compliance with medical confidentiality and required retention periods.

Key responsibilities :

  • Medical check-up’s and medical assessment with regard to the workplace, such as work in fire departments, respiratory protection or work in an oxygen-reduced environment
  • Application of biomonitoring studies to employees
  • Medical assessments and advice to the employer on WHM, health promotion, prevention of occupational diseases and occupational health disorders, support in occupational rehabilitation, return to work place
  • Cooperation with external medical services and authorities
  • Medical treatment for occupational health problems, emergencies, referral to external medical authorities. Medical lead of the medical ambulatory on site
  • Key requirements :

  • Medical diploma and license to practice medicine in Switzerland, mandatory specialization in occupational medicine
  • Several years of professional experience in occupational medicine desired
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills in both German and English
  • Broad clinical experience (e.g. general and internal medicine, dermatology, psychiatry, surgery, emergency medicine, rheumatology, rehabilitation medicine) and additional experience in occupational medicine
  • Teamwork, good communication skills, leadership skills and assertiveness
  • Interdisciplinary cooperation (Industrial hygiene, occupational safety, Biosafety, people care center, HR), observance of medical confidentiality, ability to develop trust in the management and the workforce, awareness of the tension between medical-ethical convictions, entrepreneurial requirements and labor law requirements
