Postdoctoral Position in Development of Artificial Cells by using Microfluidics We invite candidates to submit applications for a PostDoc position in a joint project between the nanoscience-oriented physical chemistry groups of Professor Wolfgang Meier and Cornelia Palivan, Department of Chemistry, at the University of Basel, Switzerland .
The position is for one year, with possible prolongation up to two years. Your position The overall aim of this project is the development of artificial cells based on combination of active compounds (enzymes, membrane proteins, mimics) and synthetic microcompartments generated by microfluidics.
A particularly important part of the project will intend to evaluate the interaction between the synthetic compartments and specific biomolecules, as a key element for the stability and functionality of the artificial cells.
In addition, new design of the microfluidics chips will support assemblies with desired properties and allow in situ structural characterization of the artificial cells as a prerequisite for their therapeutics and diagnostics applications.
This is an interdisciplinary project from which you will gain valuable experience in the domain of nanoscience, physical chemistry, biochemistry and microfluidics approaches.
Your role will be to adapt or design new microfluidics chips for production of stable synthetic compartments and combination of thereof with biomolecules, to control their interaction and functionality for efficient generation and scale-up of artificial cells.
