The (IGD) seeks to fill a position of Graduate Assistant in Human Geography, for a maximum period of 5 years under the responsibility of Dr Joëlle Salomon Cavin, senior researcher and lecturer.
The IGD is an interdisciplinary community of about 100 academics that work in the fields of Geography and Sustainability.
With 15 professors and more than 40 PhD students, the department offers a vibrant, stimulating environment for cutting-edge research.
It hosts regular lecture series and distinguished guest researchers from around the world.

Contract length : 1 year, renewable 2 x 2 years, maximum 5 years

The successful candidate will develop personal research leading to a PhD in Human Geography with a specialization in Environmental and Urban Geography.
Her / His research should focus on one of the following topics :
The candidate will devote at least 50% of working time to her / his PhD research, with the remaining time reserved for supporting Joëlle Salomon Cavin’s teaching and research activities.
The successful candidate is expected to have earned a Master’s degree in Geography or other discipline in the humanities and social sciences with a strong interest in issues related to urban nature and life sciences.
Training in biology with a proven interest in the social sciences and the city is also possible.
The candidate must be able to demonstrate expertise in qualitative methods, appreciate observation and fieldwork, have strong writing skills and demonstrate an interest in Science and technology studies (STS).
French and English language proficiency is expected (French is the working and teaching language at UNIL).
