We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual as a PostDoc with background in electrochemistry and nanomaterials .
The position is a fixed time contract for an initial period of 1 year with the possibility to extend it on a yearly basis.
The position is based in our Advanced Materials European Headquarter in Basel.
As main initial responsibility, you will take over the technical lead within an EU-project. The objective of the work is to develop slurries containing nanomaterials to enhance the performance of cathodes.
As part of a large consortium of partners working in battery-industry, the overall objective of this program is to innovate in the field of advanced Lithium-Ion cells of the third generation.
Additionally, you will work within a multidisciplinary team of 30+ people to boost innovations by developing products for different applications.
In this work you will interact with stakeholders in different functions and regions. You will be responsible for developing fundamental technical and scientific insights and for proposing new technology platforms.
This position will involve working with other scientists and may involve the direction and / or mentorship of technicians within the laboratory.
The successful applicant should demonstrate strong collaborative and communication skills, as well as an attention to detail for task execution and project management.
As PostDoc you will :
Develop work hypothesis, design experiments and execute them to validate value proposition
Develop fundamental understanding of the interplay between physical and chemical contributions to observed phenomena
Exploit this understanding to overcome technical barriers to meet product requirements and specifications
Extract and analyze data streams to provide insight into material effects and interactions
Conduct literature search and patent monitoring to understand industry and technology trends
Contribute to the development of a science-driven innovation culture within the global organization
Support the definition and execution of innovation roadmaps by integrating molecular-scale material science into product requirements and specifications
Proactively look for opportunities to gain IP and create commercial advantage
Maximize the probability of success for projects by collaborating with other functions - e.g. product development, technical service, manufacturing, marketing
Ensure full compliance with safety, health and environmental guidelines according to site and company standards
Ph.D in physics, material science or nanoscience
Deep knowledge of electrochemistry or electrophysics is required
Experience with polymers and carbon materials is mandatory
Track record in identifying innovative solutions to scientific and technical problems
Natural leader with an entrepreneurial mindset, self-driven and highly motivated
Team player with excellent interpersonal, communication and project management skills associated with strong work ethics
Effective oral and written English knowledge
