OBJECTIVES / PURPOSE
Top compensation position with full leadership and oversight of a group of Global Business Units, which includes : R&D / Oncology, PDT / Vaccines, GMS / GQ and Corporate Functions.
Has overall responsibility for planning, designing, implementing, administering, and communicating compensation strategies and programs for this group.
Heavy focus on relationship management given breadth of responsibility across multiple business units (R&D / Oncology, PDT / Vaccines, GMS / GQ, and Corporate Functions)
May require leadership of cross functional, enterprise-wide programs, such as year end process, short-term incentives, long-term incentives and recognition
Oversees all aspects of the annual compensation cycle including the salary and incentive review, market data collection and analysis, market trend research, and budgeting for salary increases.
Responsible for ensuring the alignment of Global Business Unit compensation programs across this group with global philosophy, policies and guidelines
The position also has responsibility for large, enterprise-wide projects such as short-term incentives, long-term incentives, recognition and year end
Manages the process by which any new or revised jobs are evaluated and slotted into appropriate job grades and salary ranges within R&D / Oncology, PDT / Vaccines, GMS / GQ, and Corporate Functions.
Manages the overall framework for job descriptions and role profiles and ensures that process aligns with global structure.
Coordinates with local HR contacts to ensure complete understanding of new roles and local market considerations where the roles are situated
Has deep understanding of the global trends and practices and stays abreast of compensation best practices, critical jobs, legal developments, emerging trends, and technological advancements.
Provides supporting market data and best practice recommendations to the Head of Global Compensation
Partners closely with the HR Partners in R&D / Oncology, PDT / Vaccines, GMS / GQ, and Corporate Functions regarding each of the aspects included within the position’s responsibilities, to ensure that Business Unit practices are relevant and meet proper requirements
Works with the Head of Global Compensation and HR Partners within R&D / Oncology, PDT / Vaccines, GMS / GQ, and Corporate Functions to manage the development, implementation and administration of compensation programs for each area.
This includes base salary, fixed payments,
Manage 6 direct reports in Boston and Zurich
EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
BA or BS Required (Business, Finance, or Accounting-related major preferred)
Experience in a leadership role preferred
10-15 years of relevant experience required
Extensive knowledge of compensation principles and practices, and government regulations globally required
Experience in managing multi-country compensation programs within a large, global or regional organization
Experience in pharmaceutical industry preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Proven project management skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
Strong ability to present information in an objective and logical manner for effective decision making as well as strong negotiation and influencing ability
