The community includes more than 9000 members and alumni in over 150 countries and territories. In each city, teams of Shapers self-organize to create projects that address the needs of their community.
Throughout the year, Shapers participate in global events, trainings and innovation challenges to ensure the voice of young people is heard and acted upon.
The Global Shapers Community's impact is anchored in three main areas - Climate & Environment, Education & Employment as well as Diversity & Inclusion.
To support the first impact area, the Global Shapers Community has partnered with the Climate Reality Project to equip Global Shapers with the knowledge and skills required to drive positive action for the environment in their communities.
To date, close to 1000 Shapers have participated in a Climate Reality training and this number is expected to continue to grow.
Reporting Lines & InteractionsThe Project Specialist, Climate & Environment role will report to the Deputy Head & Impact Lead, Global Shapers Community.
This position is based in Geneva, Switzerland.Main responsibilitiesProject Management* Contribute to and execute on the Global Shaper Community Climate & Environment strategy* Oversee the application, selection and travel logistics for Global Shapers taking part in Climate Reality Leadership Corps Trainings* Support the implementation of the Climate-Speakers Series workshop at SHAPE events* Track community projects that are a direct result of the Climate Reality trainings and Climate-Speaker Series workshops and report on progress* Coordinate the Climate & Environment Steering Committee to mobilise the community to reach the 2021 community impact objectives* Contribute to the design of the Climate & Environment programmatic track for both in-person and virtual events* Provide specific project management and coordination support, including creating timelines for various climate and environment related workstreams and tracking actions needed to achieve project milestones and objectivesCommunications* Support internal and external communications needs by providing climate and environment related content for the Global Shapers website, social media and intranet* Developing content for community partnerships, management updates, annual reports and newslettersPreferred requirements and experience* Bachelor's degree in communications, business administration, international development or another relevant subject.
Master's degree is preferred but not required* 2-3 years' professional experience in project or event management; climate and environment experience are a plus* Understand and have a passion for youth activism and global development.
