The Department of Mathematics andActuarial Science at Millikin University invites applications for atenure-track position in Mathematics to commence on August 1, 2019.
The initialappointment is expected to be at the rank of Assistant Professor, thoughappointment at a higher rank commensurate with experience is possible.
The successful candidate for this positionwill take a leading role in the new computer science major that commences Fall2019.
A Ph.D. in Mathematics or a relateddiscipline conferred before August 2019 is required. Applicants withspecialties in applied or computational mathematics who have extensiveexperience in computer programming are especially desired, but applicants withstrong teaching credentials from any field of mathematics with programmingexperience are encouraged to apply.
Demonstrated potential for excellence inteaching mathematics and computer science is required. The successful applicantmust maintain a program of active scholarship and supervise research projectsby undergraduate students.
Duties include a 12-hour teaching load per semester,advising students, and committee responsibilities.Course load may include introductoryprogramming, operating systems, computer organization and architecture,parallel and distributed processing, and advanced courses in computer science aswell as courses throughout the undergraduate mathematics curriculum.
