The R&D Associate Engineer Identify plays an important role by proposing and implement technology development and solutions.

In this position, you will execute product development tasks using your technical expertise. Reporting to the Head of R&D mechanics MV-Drives, you will perform a variety of technology / engineering assignments, recognizing problems and providing input on solutions.

Your responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design of medium voltage drives converter and for the specific R&D cabinet testing such as fluid, thermal, vibration
  • Gathering information, document, report, and track design improvement, keeping up to date with the product strategic plans and developing an understanding of technical drivers and customer value.
  • Contributing your own creative ideas to R&D projects and proposing follow-up activities based on project results
  • Providing consulting services to business operations like design to cost, design for manufacturing, design for testing
  • Participating in working teams and offering assistance to co-workers, as well as consulting team members and colleagues to gain information and knowledge.
  • Working to recognize the importance of intellectual property in industry and the advantage of ABB's patents relevant to your own area of research, as well as to grasp risk management in R&D projects
  • Your background

  • Master of Mechanical engineering or / and Electromechanical degree (FH or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience in electromechanical environment working as junior engineer with cabinet, power convertor technologies or very similar
  • Sound knowledge of CAD / Creo design with the related Product life cycle management (PLM) and of SAP (Data Management)
  • A solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Confident with the R&D Product development methods, Agile, Scrum, and Lean6sigma
  • Fluent in English, Basic knowledge in German, Polish & Finn beneficial
