About the Role

This position will work closely with senior management of Private Equity, Australia. The role of Vice President, Taxation will be primarily to manage the development of the tax strategy, planning and risk management practices for the PE business. The role will also be responsible for overseeing and ensuring all tax matters are appropriately addressed, including M&A tax support, tax due diligence, tax risk management and tax compliance for Private Equity.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Support all tax planning and strategy for Private Equity within Australia
  • Lead tax stream of work for any due diligence
  • Proactively communicate and recommend tax strategies and solutions to senior management
  • Prepare and work with external advisors to compile transfer pricing documentation
  • Maintain and expand technical tax knowledge through professional development activities
  • Tax Risk Management: Ensure compliance with Private Equity tax risk management policies and procedures.

About You

  • Qualified CA and/or lawyer with at least 10 years of corporate tax experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm and/or in industry with a multinational corporate group;
  • Strong technical knowledge of Australian tax rules including corporate reorganisations;
  • Able to communicate complex tax matters and issues in a concise and simple manner. Strong writing and presentation skills;
  • Capacity to provide tax advice and compliance support to senior management.
  • High energy, self-motivation and commitment to achieving objectives.
  • Proven ability to manage and/or build a team of tax professionals in a complex environment;
  • Experienced in M&A, DD and corporate tax sectors.
  • Highly developed tax, legal, financial and accounting skills.
  • Ability to identify and prioritise strategic issues, especially regarding improved shareholder value.
  • May involve some travel extensively inside and outside Australia.
