Job DescriptionOver 200! That is the number of projects Oncology Data Science group has been involved in over the past year from early target identification and validation to clinical trials in patients.

About the group : The Oncology Data Science (OncDS) group in NIBR provides computational biology expertise and brings together projects spanning the entire clinical development pipeline, across a wide and unique range of novel therapeutics (e.

g. targeted and immunotherapies, radioligands, cell and gene therapies). OncDS focuses on applications of high-throughput genomic and biomarker data analysis for target identification, drug discovery, and clinical development.

OncDS’s research includes : Overseeing profiling efforts and performing analysis of high-throughput genomic and biomarker data to enable patient stratification and clinical development for thousands of oncology clinical samples, informing drug discovery and development.

Integrating internal and external data across distinct clinical trials to produce recognized translational impact.Applying cutting-edge technologies and analytic approaches to characterize the molecular mechanisms of therapeutic response in individual cancer patients and pre-clinical models.

About the job : We are seeking a highly motivated computational biologist who will advance the translation of multi-dimensional molecular data (e.

g. NGS) to novel target identification, drug discovery and biomarker discovery in clinical trials. Specific job responsibilities include :

  • Collaboration with pre-clinical and clinical teams on the design and execution of molecular biomarker profiling studies
  • Exploration of molecular data in the context of clinical variables to discover biomarkers of response / resistance to therapy.
  • Communication of key findings to diverse group of scientists and clinical teams.
  • Application of biostatistics and machine learning methods across multiple datasets of different origins to gain novel and actionable biological insights.
  • Development of innovative analytic approaches for new technologies and to integrate and visualize complex datasets.
  • Contribution to NIBR Oncology research efforts by applying data mining and genomic profiling to discover novel targets, elucidate drug mechanism of action and stratify clinical trial patients.
  • Minimum requirementsWhat you’ll bring to the team :

  • MSc. in bioinformatics, biostatistics, genomics, computer science, or related field, with two years of relevant experience
  • Fluency in one or more programming languages with bioinformatics applications (e.g. Python, R)
  • Demonstrated statistical and analytic rigor when tackling multidimensional omics datasets
  • Knowledge of cancer genomics, immunology / immune-oncology, clinical and translational science preferred
  • Effective communication of complex concepts to diverse audiences
  • Curiosity, creativity and drive towards solutions when facing scientific challenges
  • Fluency in English (oral / written)Why consider Novartis? 799 million. That’s how many lives our products touched in 2019.
