Job Title : Server & Storage Support Specialist Function : Infrastructure Systems Management Specialist Sub Function : ISM DRCS Job Rank : Senior Associate Job Summary : The Server & Storage Support Specialist will provide day-

to-day support as part of the Infrastructure Systems Management in Switzerland; this will include technical support of Switzerland servers, storage and data room facilities.

This professional applies knowledge of Windows and VMware server operations practices as well as good hardware and infrastructure experience to various platforms.

This position requires in-depth knowledge of the firm's infrastructure to resolve complex incidents and problems and to provide a stable and reliable infrastructure.

This specialist will also be responsible for deployment and installation of hardware equipment and associated infrastructure peripherals.

Work is relevant to racking / stacking and cabling (copper & fiber) of servers, blade chassis, network equipment, and all aspects of storage array devices.

The individual shall be responsible for server incidents, hardware troubleshooting, memory installations and upgrades. Managed by the Global Lead for Data Restricted Country Support.

Essential Functions of the Job : Provides support for infrastructure services hardware, operating system, and software platforms.

Server Configuration Changes as outlined in ServiceNow requests. Ensure that the server uptime meets the defined Service Levels and ensure any requested changes are made with due diligence and clear roll back plans

  • Ensure the ongoing operations, availability and stability for infrastructure such as structured cabling, server hardware, network, and storage equipment.
  • Install and decommission infrastructure components per guidelines and change ticket orders
  • Incident handling, troubleshooting, and server hardware replacement / upgrades
  • Off hour on call support (rotational basis)
  • Creation, maintenance and provision of Data Room Facilities inventory system, documentation and reports
  • Liaise with building facilities and various IT management teams relative to Data Room operations and project activity.
  • Heavy lifting is necessary, as infrastructure components can weigh up to 25 kg.
  • Perform other responsibilities and tasks as required or directed
  • Maintain inventory of infrastructure stock equipment.
  • Analytical / Decision Making Responsibilities :

  • Ability to deal efficiently with complex, critical escalations and difficult situations under pressure, such as restoring services
  • Strong team working skills but also able to work alone
  • Consistent and analytical way of thinking
  • Ability to participate in conference calls, explain and defend complicated concepts
  • Ability to coordinate multitasking work performed by several individuals
  • Knowledge and Skills Requirements :

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with various aspects of hosting center technology infrastructure management and operations preferred
  • Fluent spoken and written English is required
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Experience of working in larger-scale data centers preferred
  • Knowledge of Dell / HP hardware, EMC storage platform and Veritas NetBackup basics is preferred
  • An overall understanding of facility technologies (HVAC, power distribution, generated back-up power, rack management & DC cable plant) and extensive experience in a high-
  • availability environment

  • Ability to work and team with a multitude of different people to balance demands
  • Ability to work in virtual, cross-border teams
  • Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity and rapid change
  • Other Requirements :

  • The job may require to work on extended hours and weekends
  • The job may require to work on different time zone due to global responsibilities
  • The job may require travel to other Global Data Centers
  • Job Requirements : Education :

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience :

  • Bachelor’s Degree or related work experience
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with various aspects of hosting center technology infrastructure management and operations with more than three years of experience in running larger-
  • scale data centers preferred

  • Strong knowledge of facility technologies (HVAC, power distribution, generated back-up power, rack management & DC cable plant) and extensive experience in a high-
  • availability environment

  • An overall understanding of the business objectives of service lines and Core Business Services departments
  • Certification Requirements :

    Microsoft Windows Server certification is not required but would be a plus.
