Committed to strengthening our R&D team for ABB Smart Buildings in Schaffhausen we are currently looking to attract an R&D Principal Engineer for Magnetic Relay.
Provide leadership and expertise necessary to perform a variety of complex engineering assignments requiring in-depth knowledge of a specific engineering discipline plus an understanding of related disciplines to cost effectively achieve objectives.
Assignments typically require the use of advanced and innovative techniques
Proactively seek and implement initiatives to improve operations and increase customer satisfaction
Plan, conduct, coordinate and develop recommendations regarding varied analytical studies such as application of advanced engineering concepts and processes
Analyze engineering and business aspects of proposed solutions, develop proposals and coordinate associated activities
Act as principal investigator or lead a group of engineers investigating problems, developing solutions and preparing related recommendations and reports
May serve as engineering or project manager, direct activities of other engineers and assist in their professional and technical development
Represent the organization in international meetings; interact with customers to resolve significant technical issues and develop related action plans
Bachelor's or master’s degree in electrical engineering / physics or related field
Long-term experience as a product or design engineer
Strong technical knowledge of the following : magnetic and electrical system engineering in the area of low voltage products, precision mechanical and electrical interfaces, deep knowledge in the area of residual current protective devices (RCDs)
Good understanding of Project Management methodologies with proven experience
Proficiency in knowledge and application of Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS-Project)
Proficiency in knowledge and application of design software, preferably Solidworks
Self-motivated, quick learner result oriented with positive attitude
Good communication skills, written and verbal (German and English)
