Call for Georg H. Endress Postdoc Fellows
Basel-Freiburg Center for Quantum Science and Quantum Computing QSC
EUCOR The European Campus
The Center for Quantum Science and Quantum Computing (QSC)of the Universities of Basel (Switzerland) andFreiburg (Germany), embedded in EUCOR The European Campus, invitesapplications for GeorgH.
Endress Postdoc Fellowships . The Center seeks to attract outstanding andhighly motivated early-career scientists in QSC to engage in cutting-edge projects involving existing research groups at Basel andFreiburg.
The ideal Georg H. Endress Fellow has recently finished a PhD in experimentalor theoretical physics (or related areas) and is eager to shape the academic environment in research and teachingat both nodes.
Fellows will be appointed typically for up to three years, andwill be selected on the basis of scientific excellence as well as quality and innovativepotential of proposed research in the QSC targetareas of the Center, such as quantum information processing (quantumcomputation, simulation, and metrology), quantum technologies, complex quantumsystems, quantum materials, and other emerging topics in quantum science.
The Georg H. Endress Postdoc Cluster at the Basel-Freiburg Center for QSC on EUCOR The European Campus is a dedicated ten-yearinitiative to foster and educate outstanding young scientists to provide theacademic talent and technology skills for the rapidly developing field of QSC.
TheGeorg H. Endress Fellows will complement and expand the present strategic strengths in researchat the Center. We are aiming broadly at the 2nd generation of quantumtechnologies, exploring control of the quantum properties of elementarybuilding blocks, and of their orchestrated interaction, to enhance targetedfunctional properties upon integration.
The Center has appointed a first series of fellows in 2018 and expects to support and host up to ten Georg H. Endress Fellows in any given year for ten years.
Applications contain the candidate’s CV and a short (up to two pages) research statement , in one pdf document . Theresearch statement should identify one or more QSC-PI(for a list of PIs, see https : / / Endress-Fellows.
