Job Description

The New Products Director is a Global role which serves as a core member of one or more Global Program Teams (GPT) for Novartis pipeline molecules in late research stages (pre-

PoC) to the start of Phase 3. These molecules will be targeted toward Respiratory treatment areas.

  • Gather and apply insights to drive product differentiation and competitive advantage.
  • Provide commercial input to guide the development program and life cycle plans to optimize commercial potential.
  • Liaise with NIBR to support project milestone transitions decisions, and maximize the strategic fit of drug research activities.
  • Liaise with key Country Pharma Organisations to ensure appropriate country / regional input to program strategy.
  • The NPD is also the lead commercial support for external opportunities. This requires liaising with BD&L to identify, screen and assess potential in-
  • licensing opportunities, and provide disease area expertise and commercial input.

  • The NPD is a key contributor to the creation of market-driven disease area strategies, creating and refining target product profiles (TPP) with clearly differentiated competitive advantage and Value Propositions (in GPT, NIBR programs and BD&L opportunities).
  • Use in-depth disease area and market knowledge to influence development colleagues, providing strategic direction to clinical trial design.
  • Drive early brand value and differentiation through formulation development and packaging, including new technologies.
  • With GP&MA (as co-lead of Value & Access Team, V&AT ), develop pricing options based on market trends, payer insights and impact on sales / profitability.
  • Minimum requirements

  • PhD / MD / MBA or relevant business consulting experience
  • Minimum 5 7 years professional experience in Pharma industry.
  • English-fluent, additional language a plus
  • Strong influencing skills, both internally and externally. Proven ability to work successfully within a matrix organization and lead cross-
  • functional teams without authority

  • In-depth knowledge in Respiratory disease area desirable
  • Commercial / Marketing mindset & experience
