80%-100%, Zurich, temporary The Macromolecular Engineering Laboratory (Prof.
Tibbitt) within the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering (D-MAVT) at ETH Zürich in Zürich, Switzerland, engineers and applies advanced polymeric materials for a range of biomedical and industrial uses.
iv) tools to study mechanobiology and cell-matrix interactions; and (v) engineered 3D cell culture platforms.
The lab is composed of a highly interdisciplinary and international team of motivated researchers.
To expand on the design of dynamic polymeric (bio)materials with direct impact on many of the current projects in the lab, the Tibbitt Lab is recruiting a full-time (100%) Postdoctoral Researcher.
The position is hosted in the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering (D-MAVT) of the ETH Zürich, in the Zentrum Campus in Zürich, Switzerland.
D-MAVT () is an interdisciplinary department with focus areas in process / chemical, mechanical, and biomedical engineering as well as robotics and controls.
Zürich is an international city with broad access to outdoor activities, arts and culture, other European cities, as well as a rich and excellent scientific community.
Your profile We are looking for a highly motivated and collaborative postdoctoral researcher to work closely with Prof.
Tibbitt and several members of the group.
The ideal candidate will have a rigorous understanding of polymer physics, polymer network design and characterization, dynamic or supramolecular chemistries for material design, and materials synthesis.
Further desired skills include, soft matter modeling (physical and computational), super-resolution imaging, and biomaterials design.
Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent degree in chemical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering, materials science, chemistry, physics, or a related field.
The position is part of a SNSF Research Project on the design and understanding of dynamic polymeric materials through macromolecular design.
The position is funded for 2 years with the possibility of extension.
The project is highly interdisciplinary and the applicant must have a collaborative spirit, be highly motivated, and dedicated to high quality research.
Further, the selected candidate will help mentor current BSc, MSc, and PhD students of the group, thus, a supportive and teaching-centered approach in the lab is required.
