The Woodrow Wilson Academy, developed in collaboration with MIT, seeks to transform the existing model of teacher education by instituting a competency-
based program, which shifts the current focus of education from how long candidates must be taught to what they have learned and can do.
It changes the emphasis in education from establishing common time-fixed processes credits that must be accumulated, courses that must be completed and lengths of time students must spend in college classes to achieving common, time-
variable outcomes : the skills and knowledge necessary to be a successful teacher or school leader on day one.
2) assessment tools designed to determine candidate competencies; and 3) a problem-based, individualized, adaptive curriculum tied to these competencies.
Students progress through the curriculum by mastery of the competencies and graduate when they have mastered all of the competencies.
The amount of time required will vary from student to student. Students will experience the challenge-based curriculum based on real problems of practice that new teachers face in a blended environment including online, face-
to-face, and clinical education.
During the 2018-2019 academic year, the WW Academy enrolled its first class of teacher candidates to prepare for middle and high school STEM licensure.

WW Academy faculty work as curriculum designers, learning facilitators, and advisors to novice teachers. They collaborate closely with teachers from our partner districts to support teacher candidates to develop into confident and able educators ready to impact student learning on day one.

based program, including developing new program offerings, iterating on our existing model, and supporting research and dissemination partnerships.
We are currently seeking a professional with the knowledge and expertise needed to prepare middle and high school math teachers and a passion for supporting the development, testing, and implementation of an innovative curriculum.
We are looking for an individual with deep knowledge of mathematics content and pedagogy (including a graduate degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education), a passion for and experience in K-
12 teaching, curriculum development, and mentoring novice teachers. The ideal candidate would have additional expertise teaching Computer Science or incorporating computational thinking in STEM learning experiences.
The anticipated faculty opportunity is a full-time, renewable twelve-month appointment, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts and offers competitive compensation and benefits.
