Job Responsibilities

  • Leads the firm’s dogma for Environment & Sustainability in the region
  • Establishes regional environmental & sustainability goals consistent with global goals and objectives
  • Develops long-range Environmental & Sustainability plans for region
  • Provides leadership, expertise and support to drive environmental standards, programs and processes
  • Provides regular communication to regional SH&E director and management regarding environmental issues and provide expertise and support
  • Champions global and regional programs, harmonizes processes and drives the culture and the agenda for environmental and sustainability topics in the region, interfacing at all levels
  • Conducts regular visits to plants to review projects, clarify priorities and focus, educate local management on environmental issues and provides support.
  • Tracks and reports regional environmental and sustainability performance

  • Leads regional environmental regulatory advocacy efforts consistent with corporate and business goals. Provides interpretation of requirements through communication and interaction with regulatory agencies
  • Maintains knowledge on current and future environmental regulatory requirements. Leads development of compliance strategies
  • Oversees facility environment staff competency and identifies training opportunities
  • Coaches and mentors local management in the development and implementation of local environmental programs
  • Ensures competitive advantage

  • Advises and assists senior management in applicable environmental & sustainability areas
  • Promotes continuous improvement in environment & sustainability
  • Builds competitive advantage by integrating tactical and strategic best practices into regional and local manufacturing operations
  • Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care® Management Sys-tem in line with the requirements of the RC14001® technical specification, as applicable to the site / region
  • Requirements

    Education : Bachelor / University degree in engineering or science; advanced degree preferred.

    Languages : English at business level is a must. Any other language skills an advantage.

    Professional Experience

  • 8 to 10 years’ experience in environmental programs within the chemical manufacturing industry
  • Multi-site responsibility in environmental roles with headquarter experience is an added benefit
  • Detailed understanding of recent environmental regulations as it applies to chemical industries
  • Strong experience in environmental issues would be highly beneficial
  • A proven track record of strategic thinking and incorporating environmental & sustainability areas into the business
  • Active network in the Environment & Sustainability community in Europe, preferably as part of industry associations or similar multinational bodies would be an added value
  • Strong background in all aspects of sustainable development capturing Social, Economic and Environmental sustainability and overlapping to Corporate Social Responsibility.
  • Working experience in implementing EU and global legislation in a business environment would be an advantage.
  • Experience in a legal and compliance background is an advantage.
