Our products mainly serve commercial applications in micromachining markets.
We seek an energetic Senior Fiber Component Engineer to work in a fast paced, international development environment. The candidate should have strong technical skills in order to drive product development to volume production.
Job Responsibilities :
Member of the NPI team for the introduction of next generation ultrafast laser products.
Actively engage in the product development process in close collaboration with the electrical, mechanical, process and manufacturing engineering teams.
Design, verification and optimization on component, subassembly and system level with a focus on fiber components and subsystems.
Specification and documentation of components, assemblies and build / test procedures.
Supplier selection and management in close collaboration with Global Commodity and Supply Chain Management.
Assembly, optimization, and testing of alpha and beta prototypes.
Support product transfer to the manufacturing team including training of engineers and technicians as well as writing of work instructions.
International travel (up to 20%) may be required.
Minimum Requirements :
Advanced degree in Lasers or Photonics, with >
5 years of industry experience in product development.
Experience with fiber handling and processing (splicing, cleaving, connectorization) as well as integration of optical fibers into industrial products.
Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Quality (DFQ) within a structured product development process in an industrial environment.
Teamwork orientation with strong communication, documentation, and presentation skills, as well as commitment to continuous improvement.
Fluency in English (oral and written).
Must be eligible to work in Switzerland on a full-time basis.
Additional Desired Experience :
Experience in Test & Reliability engineering (HALT / HASS).
Optical design modelling and tolerance analysis.
Manufacturing experience / exposure.
Use of test and measurement equipment for laser characterization (autocorrelators, power meters, spectrometers, oscilloscopes, optical and RF spectrum analyzers, etc.).
