We are looking for a motivated and experienced (omics) data scientist that is passionate about the digitization of pharmaceutical R&D and healthcare.
You have developed an extensive skill set to analyze single cell and spatial genomics datasets. You are a strong team player with outstanding communication skills.
You are a result-oriented professional with interests in accelerating drug discovery and development processes through agile data analysis.
You have an open mind and are a problem-solver with a great interest in challenging biological and pharmacological questions.
You are at ease with working simultaneously on several projects with different objectives.
By keeping up-to-date with the latest computational capabilities and data sources you can act as key player in drug discovery and early development teams to provide them with directions and decision points for progressing molecules to clinical concept testing.
Bridging with other computational functions and the Global Information Services (GIS) is key to the success of team in which the data scientists will be deployed.
The data scientist is responsible for analyzing complex data sets obtained through in-house experiments and / or retrieved from external sources.
We have a particular interest in single cell expression and spatial genomics analyses. You will be part of the Translational Biomarker Group whose members scientifically and experimentally engage in discovery and early clinical development teams to solve project-related questions.
By working closely together with other functions in scientific computing and (biomedical) statistics within a matrix organization, you will present and discuss analysis results with projects teams.
The data scientist will be further responsible for :
Driving the exploration and validation of novel drug targets and / or biomarkers
Continuous improvement of analytical procedures; evaluation, validation and implementation of new tools and methodologies
Developing and constantly innovating the Translational Biomarker strategy for Idorsia
Documenting, reporting, and communicating results to the teams
Publishing, presenting, and discussing scientific results at international meetings; Be a representative of the Biomarker strategy in Idorsia towards an international expert audience.
Developing standardized NGS analysis pipelines and workflows : Data storage, data management, data retrieval with queries, data visualization and biological data interpretation based on the biological questions
Effectively communicate project context and results with team members in the Translational Biomarkers, Biology and Pharmacology groups
A PhD in bioinformatics or any other relevant life sciences discipline with demonstrated experience in complex data analysis of omics data sets
Minimally 5 years postdoctoral experience of applying advanced types of data analysis, proven by a strong publication record or 2 years Industry experience
Strong experience with the processing and biological interpretation of sequencing data from different single cell technologies, including methods for full-length (e.
g. SmartSeq2) and UMI-based (e.g. 10X Genomics’ Chromium, Drop-seq, InDrops) profiling. Experience in working with CyTOF data would be an asset
Expertise in creating and working with atlas -level cross-study single cell datasets. In particular, experience in integration of in-house data with commercially curated studies towards the comparison and identification of disease and compound signatures at the cell and molecular level
Experience working with multi-modal single cell and / or spatial omics data, and the ability to effectively correlate these with other high-dimensional readouts towards a deep phenotypic characterization of disease-associated cell populations, in particular in the context of infiltrating immune cell populations
Demonstrated ability to test and / or develop new computational tools to draw relevant biological insight from bulk and single cell transcriptomic data with respect to target validation, compound mode of action and translatable biomarkers
Expert knowledge in omics information resources and more advanced pathway / biological network analysis
Experience in one or more therapeutic areas of interest to Idorsia (CNS, Immunology, Oncology, and CV / fibrosis) would be an advantage
Demonstrated experience of working in multicultural, multidisciplinary and matrix environments
Result oriented, problem solver with a good understanding of biology in multiple therapeutic areas preferably with experience in a medical setting
Background in computational analysis, experienced in statistical analysis with good scripting and programming skills (e.
g. shell, R / bioconductor, Python, Java)
Experience in dashboard creation (such as R shiny app) would be an advantage
Experience with cloud computing, pipeline development and productionizing data analysis workflows desiredDynamic team player with excellent communication and networking skills, flexible mindset and scientifically curious
