Our Global Communications team is growing to accommodate this exciting transformation and we are currently looking to hire a Science Writer for our Operation Centre in Lausanne, Switzerland at Philip Morris International Management SA.

We're revolutionizing how we talk to consumers, regulators and society in general and the science writer plays a key role in helping us do this.

Creating content across,, offline media and social you'll be able to take worldclass research and turn into inspiring and engaging articles that consumers and the scientific community understand our latest findings.

Working to the Head of Scientific Writing, you'll have a brilliant understanding of scientific research, know how it's carried out, and the proof points needed to make substantiated claims so you can tell our stories with passion, but without over-claiming or exaggerating results.

You'll love taking complex research, identifying the stories, summarize it for the scientific community, as well as simplifying it for consumers.

You'll also support the creation of our regular scientific update, and our science social media accounts. Plus work with the content creation team to help educate consumers in the wider science and substantiation connected to alternatives to cigarettes.

Relationship building is at the core of this role. You'll need to gain the trust of our 400 strong Research and Development department to ensure they support our content, and feel comfortable with us taking their best and latest work to the widest audience possible.

You may have a scientific background but will be used to communicating it to a consumer audience without dumbing it down or misrepresenting the science.

Perhaps you have a passion for translating science jargon for a non-scientists?

Based in Lausanne the role will also require travel to our Research and Development facilities in Neuchatel, when suitable due to the COVID pandemic.

  • An inquisitive and scientific mind
  • At least 3 years' experience telling scientific stories for a consumer audience
  • Experience reading and disseminating detailed research papers for consumers
  • Experience working within a scientific organization or science journal
  • Journalistic training or similar
  • Scientific qualifications to degree level or equivalent
  • Optional : experience designing websites and creating webpages; graphics / design skills
  • Start date : as soon as possible
