Permanent) Overview

As a StaffRobotics Engineer, you will work directly with a team of experienced engineersworking to design and validate next generation robotic platforms used withinthe medical device space.

The Staff Robotics Engineer is responsible forcontributing to the architecture, development, and execution of all aspects ofthe robotic systems design.

The initial focus of this role will be on theintegration of the Spine instrument systems into the robotic system, includingall of the verification and validation activities as well as the creation ofthe DHF.

Further responsibilities and duties are

  • Design and develop orthopedic navigation and robotic systems, including all aspects from mechanical, electrical to software as a medical device.
  • Use technical aptitude for the engineering and development of robotics systems and medical devices.
  • Operate with latitude contributing to or leading multi-disciplined and surgeon project core teams.
  • Create and monitor technical aspects of the project.
  • Understand and utilize design controls for all technical aspects of product development including the development of design inputs and outputs and the verification and validation of medical devices including software.
  • Solve design and manufacturing related problems.
  • Qualifications

  • Master Degree in Engineering or Computer science with 6 years medical device experience or 8 years of experience in a regulated industry, Ph.
  • D. with lesser experience will be considered.

  • Minimum 5 years of navigation or robotics engineering experience, product development, use case validation testing or equivalent relevant experience in product.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the planning and execution of all aspects of the systems and interaction engineering process including documentation for design control and risk management is required.
  • Experience in the various aspects of designing, validating and bringing to market of navigation and robotics systems.
  • Knowledge of user interface design and general knowledge about human perception, cognition and a basic knowledge of anthropometrics, biomechanics and physiology.
  • Familiarity with FDA, ISO and other relevant regulations and standards is highly preferred.
  • Experience in the medical field, specifically orthopaedics. Spine specific experience is an asset.
  • Clinical experience and / or professional experience / degrees in software development and / or GUI development is a strong plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent communication and interaction skills, especially when describing technical concepts to surgeons, sales personnel, and senior management.
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism in communication also with local as well as international peers.
  • Highly recognized as experienced and professional engineer by peers.
  • Ability to work independently, provide multiple solutions to problems and make systems work together.
  • Well organized, self-motivated, energetic, creative, resourceful, insightful, personable and articulate.
  • Must possess strong leadership, management and teamwork qualities.
  • This position may require up to 25% travel internationally.
