The Challenge

As Legal Counsel EMEA you will operate in an international business-to-business environment and support the business strategy and business operations by giving pro-

active, result-oriented and creative legal support and advice while acting as a trusted and value adding business partner.

The focus of your activities will be on the support of the EMEA sales organization which covers Europe, Russia, Middle East and Africa.

In a highly dynamic and challenging environment, topics like AI, Digitization and E-Business bring new legal risks and exposures which demand a new and constant focus by our legal department on all new developments and opportunities and the application thereof by DSM.

The role is positioned in our DSM Nutritional Products Headquarters in Kaiseraugst, Switzerland.

The Position

  • Support managing the legal risks connected with and / or resulting from the business strategy and operations
  • Draft, negotiate and advise on contracts and related legal documents with a focus on the operations in EMEA
  • Maintain compliance of business operations with relevant laws and regulations
  • Keep up to date with actual developments in legislation and jurisprudence
  • Provide on-site support and perform legal audits at group companies in the EMEA region
  • Actively support the implementation of DSM values, code of business conduct and corporate requirements
  • The Ideal

  • Legal degree on Master’s level
  • Admission to the bar in an European jurisdiction
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of professional work experience in a relevant field of law and / or with exposure to the Life Science industry and / or wide experience of business practices in the EMEA region
  • Experience in negotiating and drafting of contracts
  • Broad experience with the handling of technically difficult legal matters as well as in depth understanding of general company law matters in the region EMEA
  • Preparedness to regularly travel to the local organizations in the EMEA region
  • Good organizational abilities, priority setting, time management and flexibility
  • Excellent command of English, German is an advantage
  • Result-oriented, can-do mindset, drive to take on initiative
  • Team player with strong personality and good social skills
