Key Responsibilities -
Develops Casualty Underwriting strategy to achieve a profitable growing portfolio that matches customer demand, including channel and go-
to-market strategy and distribution resource allocation at European level in close co-operation with country GM’s and the GI International Casualty function;
Develops, Monitors and influences the deployment of the Casualty underwriting strategy (including talent management) and P&L, product development, executing upon agreed local strategies within global guardrails’
Manages key broker and client relationships across EuropeEnsures alignment amongst Casualty underwriting staff and leading on interaction with Distribution, Claims, Actuarial, Finance and other functions to achieve product and company goals;
Supports team in making business decisions that leverage their expertise and experience in combination with powerful, analytical models;
Champions and drives continuous professional development of the Casualty team across Europe.
Makes resource allocation decisions (including hiring & firing) for Casualty Underwriting function in conjunction with country GM
Ensures the required standards of governance, systems and controls, and regulatory compliance are established and maintained;
Leads the development and ongoing maintenance of the Company’s customer centric and risk management culture;
Serves as member of Executive Committee
Engages with non client / broker external stakeholders such as the Board and regulators, as required;
Engages with underwriters in the placement in facultative reinsurance
Proactive thought leader in areas such as conducting seminars & participating in media interviews

Technical Skills and Expertise :
Broad based, European insurance industry experience including exposure to a variety of European markets, and experience of successfully managing operations with similar complexity and scale.
Proven track record of delivering profitable growth in a sizable and relevant general insurance product line in European markets.
Strong business acumen, with a proven track record of making sound judgment backed by strong analytical, quantitative, process and systems skills.
Knowledge of European market(s) segmentation, portfolio management, acquisition and distribution.
